      <description>R Packages&#39; Life I wrote a number of R Packages with a majority of &amp;quot;private&amp;quot; packages, and some have been used for more than 15 years. Unfortunately, I can not maintain packages or participate to their development unless I have some kind of financial support for that.
In the last decade I have had the opportunity to participate to the developpement of some packages that are now released on CRAN, working with different co-authors and contributors.</description>

R is ideally suited for statistical consulting: an amazing number of quality tools for statistical analysis are available, and new ones can be implemented as well when needed. A statistical project, be it analysis reviewing or training, can always be &amp;quot;packaged&amp;quot; in a neat format including data, programs, documentation and reports.
 R is well-suited for Reproducible Research (RR) which I consider as very important in the practice of statistics.</description>

For instance, a nice forecasting method turns into a competitive advantage for my customer and I would definitely not publish any detail on this. Although I wrote many thousands of pages of reports and dozens of slideshows (nearly all with reproducible research tools), these were most often under a confidentiality agreement. A few exceptions to confidentiality are for the long-form documentation of publicly released packages and for scientific documents or articles written in collaboration with academic researchers.</description>
